Issue Position

As a consumer of our area lakes and campgrounds, I intend to protect our natural resources.

I will work to ensure that Energy and other industry sectors operate in safe and environmentally friendly ways, but are not hampered unfairly in exploiting renewable energy sources that will bring jobs to this District.

I intend to amend legislation that expands billboard owners' abilities to clear-cut larger tracts of land along our roadways. Selective pruning, combined with replanting requirements, makes better sense.

I will work to pass legislation that protects lake residents and recreational users from gunfire close to or in the direction of others and boaters operating in excess of highway speeds. I am a hunter, gun owner, and boater, but I take care to protect others from negligence.

I will work to identify ways to encourage and fund alternative transportation initiatives, including express bus service between Charlotte and Lincoln and Iredell Counties.
